📖 🕰 The house was built at the end of the 19th century by order of Barbara Cholokashvili-Baratashvili (born Princess Cholokashvili), known to everyone as Babale.
She lived in the 19th century, organized home theatrical performances of The Knight in the Panther's Skin, was a translator, and moved among the leading intellectuals of her era. Barbara Baratashvili even visited Emperor Alexander, who gave her the nickname Charming Babale (Beautiful Babale).
Built in a pseudo-Moorish architectural style, this house was a cultural hub in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its formal gatherings were attended by the Georgian elite and international guests, most notably Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
